New visiting professor - Dr. Dexnell Peters
At IN THE SAME SEA, we are proud to host as visiting professor Dr. Dexnell Peters from April 24 to May 6, 2024.
Dr. Peters is Lecturer in Caribbean and Atlantic History at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus (Jamaica) and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He was previously at the University of Warwick and the Bennett Boskey Fellow in Atlantic History at the University of Oxford. He currently researches the history of the rise of a Greater Southern Caribbean region in the late eighteenth century, showing evidence for a very polyglot, cross-imperial, and interconnected world.
During his stay, Dr. Peters will give a public lecture with the title Reconsidering Regions of the Atlantic World: The Case of the Revolutionary Greater Southern Caribbean (May 3, 2 – 2:30 pm followed by a reception, Saxo Institute room 12-3-39). All are welcome!
