New PhD fellow - Rasmus Christensen
Rasmus Christensen is a PhD fellow at the IN THE SAME SEA project. His research centres on the managing of natural resources in the Lesser Antillean colonies that were characterized by overexploitation and limited access to provisions and fresh water. The focus of his research is how the different colonies belonging to different empires competed over natural resources but also how they collaborated in times of crisis where local populations could not rely on imports from distant metropoles.
Rasmus holds two Bachelor’s degrees in Prehistoric Archaeology and History, respectively, and a Master’s degree in History from the University of Copenhagen. He has researched the Danish colonization of St. Thomas as well as on the history of the Danish West Indies as a whole. Before being enrolled as a PhD fellow, he was a curator at the National Museum of Denmark.
