New Publication: Dutch Creole Texts from the Virgin Islands

Together with colleagues from Aarhus University and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Art and Sciences, IN THE SAME SEA PhD Fellow Rasmus Christensen has published a book chapter about newly discovered Dutch Creole texts from the former Danish West Indies. The chapter presents a linguistic analysis of seven Dutch Creole texts from the 1750s to 1818, stemming from newspaper notices and advertisements, and a diary.
Entitled “Seven Newly Discovered 18th and 19th Century Virgin Islands Dutch Creole Texts”, the chapter is published in Nicholas Faraclas et al.'s edited volume Caribbean Convivialities and Caribbean Sciences: Inclusive Approaches to the Study of the Languages, Literatures and Cultures of the Dutch Caribbean and Beyond.
