Thanks for Attending our Open House!
On October 7th, the ITSS team held its third Open House event, aimed at fostering connections between the research project, members of the university department, and the wider community. The gathering provided an opportunity to showcase recent research findings and encourage collaboration and dialogue among attendees. This year’s Open House featured the exciting unveiling of an early version of an interactive web map, built on data collected from fugitive advertisements published in a range of Caribbean newspapers. This innovative tool aims to visualize and analyze the geographic distribution of these ads and the people in them, offering valuable insights into regional patterns and trends in fugitivity. Attendees had the chance to explore the map and engage with the team members about its development and potential applications.
During this event, we also bid farewell to our postdoctoral researchers, Heather Freund and Felicia Fricke, who will be concluding their time with the project in the coming months. Both have made significant contributions to the project's outcomes, and we hope that our collaboration with them will continue in the future. Lastly, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone who attended the Open House. For those who could not make it, please stay tuned for upcoming research results that will be available soon!
